THE SAPIENT SPARROW: conservatism for commoners

"What has always made the State a hell on earth has been precisely that man has tried to make it his heaven."–Holderlin

…when all through the Senate

Reid and his cronies were

forgetting the tenet

that they were elected

to do peoples’ will

instead they were bent

on making us ill.

Dr. Coburn wrote an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal that points out the most chilling sections of the “Reid Bill” that achieved cloture in the dead of night today.  Of course, we all know that this particular bill is not the one that will eventually make it to the Senate floor.  However, I have no hope that the provisions that Dr. Coburn identifies would be stricken from it, since these have persisted from the inception of Reid’s various permutations of “Health Reform” legislation.

2010 is just around the corner.  Let us pray that God blesses us in the coming year with the ability to banish these fools from our Government and replace them with those rational and capable enough to begin to undo the damage of whatever Bill is finally visited upon us.  (And lest we forget, climate regulation is another looming battle coming next year.  A bit on Copenhagen hypocrites by Mark Steyn is here.)

Rest well, merry sparrows, and enjoy your Christmas and New Year celebrations.  There will be work to accomplish and fights to be won soon enough.  2010 must be our year.  Save your strength, marshal your resources and keep your powder dry, and may God keep you and yours safe and healthy within the palm of His hand.
