THE SAPIENT SPARROW: conservatism for commoners

Hi, Just wanted to let you know that we have an opportunity this November to get rid of Bill Pascrell in the 8th Congressional District. Roland Straten is a Reagan Conservative who believes that decision-making and power should be pushed down to the lowest level of government. Roland owns a small business in Paterson (Pascrell’s home base) and has been creating real jobs in the district for 40 years. He believes that tax dollars are your money and that the current economic mess is the result of runaway spending and runaway growth of an ever intrusive big government. The way to improve the job situation is to allow free markets to work. Check out his website: and facebook page. Straten is the “real deal,” not a typical politician.

There is real hope that we can elect a representative if we pull together and get the message out.

I certainly hope you are right. I have been seeing some Straten yard signs in my area, but he does not seem to have a lot of name recognition here on the “fringes” of the 8th District. Perhaps in the heart of the District he is more visible? My fear is that Pascrell has the “union machine” behind him. My hope is that Straten will campaign along the lines of Christie, i.e., traveling the District, dropping into shops and eateries, meeting with “real” people etc. I think that he could overcome the union backing, but it will require a concerted, personal effort from him and his supporters. Thanks for your comment and for the link to Straten’s site. I am hoping along with you!
